Corona Hunter, an open-source rapid COVID-19 test kit developed through Just One Giant Lab, reached the semi-finals of the XPRIZE Rapid COVID Testing competition in September 2020.
Open-source scientific hardware is what makes work like this possible at this cost. Published comparisons put it at around 87 per cent cheaper on average than proprietary laboratory equipment once labour is excluded.
