The chain in one line
Where imported provision left no capability, we build the local conditions — capable people, a place to build, the couplings that turn capability into livelihood, and the network that connects an underserved community to the world — and we measure whether that works, because nobody else has.
Four clauses, and each answers one of the conditions set out under why this work exists. The last clause is not a flourish. The chain from rural maker education to durable income has never been measured anywhere, so measuring it is part of the work rather than a report about it.
Four streams, not one
A single pipeline would be a tidier diagram and a false one. What actually gets delivered runs in four parallel streams, over a shared research foundation, converging on a medium-term layer before anything that deserves to be called impact.
Each stream is stated the same way — inputs, activities, outputs, short-term outcomes, medium-term outcomes, impact — and each carries its own grade for how well the evidence supports it. They are not equally strong, and pretending otherwise would make the whole thing unusable.
Capability
The education pillar: term-based ICT and robotics inside government schools as a designed multi-year engagement, the learning journey through Explorer, Maker, Innovator and Changemaker, and training for teachers, principals and preschool teachers alongside makerspace and partner bootcamps.
The output is learners with assessed work that meets a single completion standard, and a delivery system capable of teaching the next cohort. The short-term outcome is skills, digital inclusion and self-efficacy — and a school able to deliver its own mandated syllabus. The medium-term outcome is a local delivery workforce: alumni teaching the cohort behind them.
We do not train children in order to train children. We train children, then teachers, then principals, then preschool teachers. That is a capability transfer into the state’s own delivery layer, and it is the highest-leverage thing in this model per rupee spent, because the gap it fills is well evidenced and the state has already committed to the mandate.
Innovation & venture
The innovation and entrepreneurship pillars: lab work with challenge-based learning running through all of it, the DreamSpace Lifecycle, and the four support modes — co-creation, bridging, domain expertise and funding — drawn on in any combination and any order.
The outputs are grassroots innovations and launched ventures. The short-term outcome is an innovation adopted by a real user outside the makerspace, and small income from self-made products. The medium-term outcome is ventures still trading at twelve and twenty-four months, local employment created by alumni ventures, capital recycling through the loan fund, and founders who come back to mentor.
Small income from selling self-made products is a modest, low-risk claim: making produces sellable output. Sustained livelihood is a different claim entirely, and it covers a wage as much as a venture. Work created for others is downstream of both and is currently unmeasured here — there is no employment count. Only the first of the three is safe to state plainly today.
Bridging & system
Being the node, and connecting it. Global-to-local bridging, building physical hubs, state partnership, hosting researchers, and giving local people a stage in front of visiting delegations. Earlier versions of this model listed the partner and funder network as an input. It is an activity, and on the evidence it is the rarest capability the organisation has.
The outputs are connections made, exposure placements, hosted researchers, and funding that reached third parties who are not us. The medium-term outcome is becoming the default partner for anyone entering the region, and the local organisations around us being stronger for it. The literature on entrepreneurial ecosystems is consistent that what produces entrepreneurial activity is the surrounding conditions rather than any single intervention delivered into a vacuum[34, 35].
Social mission
The conditions under which any of the rest is possible: peacebuilding and social cohesion, media and information integrity at scale, humanitarian response, work with women and girls, disability inclusion, and interfaith practice across five religions since 2018. Measured by delivery volume this is the single largest cluster of work, and it has historically been the most under-claimed.
The medium-term outcome is the licence to operate — the community trust and institutional standing that make everything else possible at all.
The evidence does not support “education and enterprise create peace”. It supports something narrower and more useful: that the structural distribution of educational opportunity is itself a driver or dampener of conflict; that non-formal, locally-rooted provision reaches marginalised youth where formal schooling does not[65, 68]; that integrated, sustained programmes outperform single-purpose ones; and that neither peace nor training produces livelihoods on its own.
Our most defensible structural claim sits here. Formal and non-formal provision each fail at what the other reaches, and the literature argues for combining them[66]. We run both: inside government schools, and outside them. That is a claim about position rather than outcome, which is exactly why it is safe to make.
Research as a product, not overhead
The research foundation is not a support function on this model. It is a stream-level output in its own right: an evidence base, a case-study and pattern register, the honesty rules, peer-reviewed output and a hosted doctoral study. Since the chain this model describes has never been measured anywhere, measuring it is the product. The ask is to fund the intervention and the evidence.
How well each part holds
Nothing on this page is worth much without this table. Green means the mechanism is well supported by published evidence; amber means it is argued and partially supported; red means it is our hypothesis and we are testing it.

The route is not the theory
It is tempting to compress all of this into one arrow: maker education, then challenge-based learning, then grassroots innovation, then entrepreneurship, then an impact venture. That sequence is a route some people take. It is not the model, and our own case record says so.
Across the documented cases, exactly one is a full sequential traverse from the first stage to the last. Entry happens at every point — some people arrive already innovating, some arrive through the labs, and one arrived because of work he had already published himself. And the theory is best evidenced at its destination and weakest at its conversion, which is the opposite of how a pathway is usually narrated.
A model whose weakest link is hidden is a model nobody can improve. The conversion step — a motivated candidate becoming somebody who has actually produced a tested solution — is the least evidenced stage we have, and naming it is the first condition of fixing it.
