The American Innovation Hub for Batticaloa was inaugurated on 15 November 2023 by Julie J. Chung, United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka. It is the fifth American Space in the country, hosted and operated here, for young people and researchers across the Eastern Province.
It was covered across the national press. Hosting it is a standing obligation: the hub has to be open, staffed and useful long after the opening.
