Yaazh Gaanam, opening a concert in Jaffna

The Music Lab team joined “Yaazh Gaanam — Sounds of the South” at the Muttraveli Grounds beside Jaffna Fort in October 2023, the free open-air concert by the composer Santhosh Narayanan, billing Indian alongside Sri Lankan independent artists, financed by the Lyca founder Subaskaran Allirajah.

Dinoj Mahendranathan and Saju performed. The team’s own record of the night puts the audience at over 80,000; press reports described tens of thousands. It is the largest stage anything from this floor has reached.

Two years earlier the same person was running a three-day music workshop in a bamboo shelter during Dinacon.
