The Hatton centre opened at the start of October 2025 as a community innovation hub for the upcountry region.
Replication takes the whole shared stack (the workshop floor, the mentors, the partner network, the seed instruments) to another community, and Hatton is that happening inside Sri Lanka. The central estate sector is under-served in a different way from the North and East, and by a different history.
The centre was busy immediately: a children’s day on 8 October, robotics workshops, and an open day in December. A workshop had already run there in September, before the doors formally opened.
